NJSIAA Group T&F Championships Changed To A One-Day Meet

The NJSIAA announced on Thursday that the State Group Track and Field Championships have been changed to a one-day meet on Saturday due to the poor air quality conditions caused by the Canadian wildfires.  

The two meets (Groups 1-4 and Non-Public A Championships at Franklin High) and the Groups 2-3 and Non-Public B Championships at Delsea High), which were originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will now both begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10.

It looks like the last time the Group Championships were held on one day was back in 1983. Prior to 1984, it was always a one-day meet. 

A revised schedule of events will be released as soon as possible. 

"Based on the air quality reports we are receiving and the safety of our athletes, officials and spectators, the NJSIAA Group Track Meets at Delsea and Franklin scheduled for Friday and Saturday will be moved to a one-day meet on Saturday, June 10,''' Al Stumpf, the NJSIAA Track and Field Tournament Director, wrote in an email. "The start time will be 9:30 a.m. for running and field events. We are working on revised schedule of events - it will be sent out on the Alert Message system and will also be posted on MileSplit as soon as it is completed. All Digital tickets that have been purchased for Friday will also be valid for Saturday. Thank you for your patience in this matter.''
